All generic TLD extensions and some country-code ones support a security lock option whose purpose is to prevent unsolicited transfers of active domains. Many domain name registry operators that manage country-code Top-Level Domains that don’t support this option are in the process of adopting it for better security and for the convenience of the domain name registrants. A domain name can be transferred only if it is unlocked and only a person who has access to the account with the current domain name registrar can achieve that. New domain names are registered with the lock feature enabled intentionally, so as to prevent any unwanted transfer attempts. The lock option is among the security measures for controlling the transfer of existing domain names between domain registrars that have been adopted over the years.

Registrar Lock in Hosting

The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with each and every hosting package that we offer, will grant you full command over your domain names. You’ll see all domain names registered through us conveniently listed in alphabetical order in a separate section of the Control Panel. Those whose extensions support the registrar lock option will have a tiny padlock icon on their right. By clicking on the icon, you can find out if the particular domain name is locked or unlocked and you can update the present status by clicking again – the process is as simple as that. You will not need to wait for the change to take effect or for our company to do anything, as the change of the status takes effect immediately, even if you see something different on WHOIS lookup websites. After all, it takes time for such websites to ‘refresh’ the info that they show.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

Locking or unlocking any domain name registered through us is astonishingly easy and can be done through the Hepsia Control Panel – the one via which you manage your semi-dedicated server. You’ll find all your domains in the Registered Domains section and the ones whose extensions support the registrar lock option will have a padlock-like icon next to them. You can unlock any domain by clicking on its icon and since the change will propagate immediately, you’ll be able to proceed with the domain transfer without waiting for the lock status to be updated on WHOIS websites. If you change your mind and decide not to transfer the domain away from us, locking it again will be just as simple and will not require more than several mouse clicks in your hosting Control Panel.
