Dot NAME Domains

Established in 2001, the Dot NAME universal top-level domain is the single TLD intended for personal sites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other titles people are famous by. Initially, only third-level registrations were possible, so if you wanted to reserve john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Existing third-level domains remained working.
